Domon Colored

I decided to color my drawing of my character Domon.

I... uh... I love Sai PaintTool. It's awesome.

And made of cheatery.

I had lots of fun coloring this. I originally drew it about 2-3 years ago, and after coloring my two MLP pictures, I decided to try my hand at this. If you compare it with the sketch, you may notice that I changed the feet. Normally, I hate armoured characters with leather boots on, but I felt it was appropriate for how relatively lightly armored Domon is. I also tried to keep his colors nice and earthy. The hair was difficult as it took me a while to get the lighter-toned locks to look right. It ended up alright, though.

For those of you who don't know and are interested, Domon is a character I made for a roleplaying game a while back that never took off. I've kept the idea around, however, because I like the concept.

The basic idea is that his father is a famed dragon hunter. One day, Domon (age 8 or 9 or so at this point) follows his father's group of adventurers to the lair of a black dragon. The dragon notices Domon's presence and uses him as a distraction, killing Domon's father and the rest of the adventuring party while also burning off one of Domon's arms and causing damage to Domon's vocal chords. The dragon then raises Domon as a sort of sadistic joke, pitting him against wild animals and other magical creatures for sport. The dragon also captures a gnomish inventor and forces him to build a claw-like prosthetic arm for Domon (the dragon, of course, devours the gnome shortly after the prosthetic is finished). Domon endures this until he is roughly 20 or so years old. Around this time, yet another adventuring party arrives to try to kill the dragon. Domon sabotages one of the dragon's traps, evening the odds for the battle, then escapes during the fight.

So... yeah. Definitely one of my darkest character ideas, but very interesting nonetheless. I've always wanted to roleplay a sort of internal struggle between his heroic upbringing and the animalistic creature he had to become in order to survive the black dragon's "parenting".

EDIT: Also, bonus points for anyone who can guess what Squenix character was the inspiration for Domon's appearance.

EDIT: Fixed his butt-cape to actually be a butt-cape, and not just two strips of fabric that just seem to hang from the sides of his hips. Also, fixed the hole he had in his chest under his left arm. THEY WERE BUGGING ME, ALRIGHT?!?
